CHICAGO — Woman Made Gallery (WMG) is pleased to present its 2nd Midwest Open, an exhibition juried by Amy Galpin, who selected works by 35 artists from eight Midwest states.
In her juror statement, Amy Galpin notes: “I strove for a multidisciplinary exhibition with artists engaged in myriad visual languages. Ceramics and woodworking are shown alongside painting and photography. From Monica Brown’s focused abstractions to Lily Mayfield’s poetic but not overly sentimental photographs of her family, there is much to engage with in this exhibition. There is often an over-emphasis on art produced on the coasts, and this exhibition reminds us of the many talented artists working in the Midwest region of the United States.”
On view are two- and three-dimensional works by Biance Alebiosu, Anoush Bargamian, Hannah Bennett, Monica Brown, Phoenix S. Brown, Mirvia Sol Eckert, Bronwyn Elkuss, Erin Garber-Pearson, Sue Goldsmith, Sharon Harper, Mairin Hartt, Tracie Hayes, Dawn Heid, Kelly P Hensen, Susan Jablonski, Clarissa Jakobsons, Carrie Katzenmeyer, Sandra Leonard, Samantha Link, Ellen Starr Lyon, April Malphurs, Lara Mann, Lily Mayfield, Beverly Alice Nash, Sarah O’Neil, Louise Pappageorge, Monica Rezman, Elizabeth Rhoads Read, Liese Ricketts, Marna Shopoff, Harin Song, Mariko Ventura, Mallorie Wright, Kiki Zhen, and Rebecca Zink.
