Nelly is a French collagiste, inspired by Futurism and Surrealism. Her universe is a feminine one, sensual, coloured, mysterious, sometime funny, often disturbing. Her collages must be shown like mirrors, full of symbols. Each of them tells a story. Her main themes are Woman condition, female myths (Lilith, Salomé, Cassandra, Amazons…), relationship between Man and Woman.
“Touching” is the goal of any human interaction. Seduction, body language, language, all signs are ways to do it. We need to be connected to others to feel like we exist. We share our dreams (illustrated by “La Confiture des rêves”), our experiences.
As vital as this connection between individuals is, it is very difficult to establish. It’s often doomed to failure. There’s a wall and barrier between, like in “Conversation”. It’s our differences and above all our fears that separate us.
