ARTIST STATEMENT
Paintings are objects that can capture people’s dreams and visions on a screen. When viewing artworks, human’s heart is impacted in various ways, both large and small. It can be said painting is a good way to convey your passion directly.
In my works, I use a technique called “Nihonga” which which uses materials from ancient Japan. The materials are Japanese ink and mineral pigments with animal glue and water.
Materials from nature and breathing exercises help me when I want to convey raw emotions. They sometimes change their conditions like living creatures, and I can even feel like they are connected with me. And more than anything else, these works will return to the soil if exposing them to the weather, just like our physical bodies. What is it that doesn’t change even if the physical body is gone?
There are various types of wealth, but the essence of the wealth that art brings to people is invisible. Art has the power to remind us that we are all connected to others in places other than the world in front of us, whether our reality is filled with tragedy or peace and calm.
That is also the work I want to do through Art.
