Nancy’s Housemates; Zoey, Bunny Sue, Grace and Company
graphite
11 x 14 in.

Nancy Hild’s housemates Zoey, Bunny Sue, Grace and company, all lived together in peaceful coexistence at Nancy’s live work space. It was in that space she created strikingly realistic paintings of her furry, feathered friends. Her portraits of the animals were intimate and highly detailed. I too had a personal relationship with her animals. When her chickens became ill, she couldn’t bare the idea of hurting them with a needle. It was my job to hold and administer the antibiotic shots. If we as a people could live our lives as Nancy did; creative, with compassion towards one another, and all living creatures “what a wonderful world it would be”.
