There are numerous stories in various cultures in Africa when women to the lead to protect. From the Queen Amina of Zaria, Moremi, and Efunsetan of the Yorubas to Emotan and Nzinga, they and many more had to save, protect and continue their culture when men were few or incapable. Most importantly, traditional Africa emphasizes the value and respect of women early in a child’s life, especially a male child. Contemporary masculinity is a western habit.
