Since I was 6 years old, I have struggled with severe OCD, and my work is a reflection of it. From a distance, my artworks look detailed and defined, but up close they are chaotic. I want my pieces to depict how OCD affects me mentally and physically on a daily basis. I draw the main features of the face with the most detail to portray what is going on inside my head. In conjunction with the unpredictability of the watercolor, it adds to the chaos. During my process, my OCD is at its worst; however, I also feel a sense of freedom. It’s like a playground where I feel like I don’t have the condition.
