Marybeth Ward was born in Chicago, Illinois but is now based in New York City, her work encompasses video, performance, installations with sculptural and sound elements, assemblage and photography. Her practice addresses what she most deeply believes in women’s issues and the environment. She explores the history of ideas upon which the process will be based to create archaeological landscapes that use mystical abstractions in which the viewer can be a partner. The materials dominate the work with each piece having a handmade element or irregularity that is intriguing and sometimes amusing.
