“There is a line between truth and fiction where imagination lives. The works feature coincidental, accidental and unexpected connections. By exploring the concept of image in a nostalgic way, I aim to develop forms that do not follow logical criteria, but are based only on subjective associations and formal parallels, which incite the viewer to make new personal associations.” –Mariko Ventura
Mariko Ventura is an artist who creates ceramic sculpture, whereas as Bert Menco is primarily a printmaker and draughtsman. Both artists are well established in their respective fields and their works have been included in many exhibitions in the US as well as abroad. Here, they worked with the manipulation of reality, the subtle border between reality and fantasy, and how such is perceived by third persons. Thus, their work reflects an illusion that challenges our imagination.
