La Vita, Postcard Series
Last year I was sent a box of portrait photographs from my Aunt, who lives and works as a local photographer in Muscatine Iowa. The collection came from a woman’s estate. Unrecognizable images to her heirs, these high school photos, engagement pictures and snapshots of her friends and family were sent to me. I was captured by the universal beauty of these people and began using them in my paintings. Their youth and hopefulness, their naive bravery begged the question, what about us? Who will look at our photos when we are gone?
