Cities often seem to spread in an almost lifelike manner, reaching into the surrounding environment. Some would view this development as a flourishing outgrowth, others as a disease. By combining imagery that invokes a sense of cellular biology with the common city street map, I am creating a conversation between these juxtaposed elements that refers to both the map and to the cell structure. By doing so, I hope to elicit a response from the viewer connecting the two, thus creating a link between urban sprawl and the spread of life itself.
