This is My Life
ink on paper
9 x 11 in.
This is my life. My childhood smothered in over-saturated television. I was covered/consumed. The TVs were our parents. We watched everynight during meals, eating from TV dinners on TV trays. Our TV rotated to face us. When the VCR was invented, we taped all of the daytime soap operas to view during meals. Our lives became commercial-free.
My parents, those with beating hearts, stayed together with their technology-binding marriage. They maintained the nuclear family by staying together for the kids and the sake of the church. (Besides, who would get the TV in the divorce?)
