As a painter painting from old family photos, I experiment within the tradition in at least two ways. 1) By expanding the paintings with cultural decorative arts, objects, music, plants and smells, bring childhood memories and (un)conscious feelings into the now allowing viewers to recall, reconnect and reconsider their past and what it means to their future. 2) My paintings are created to honor the extraordinary in all people and to be shown at popular places where people are drawn (i.e. town halls, malls, etc.)
