Sublime is a beauty beyond pretty. Like the surge in Hokusai’s The Great Wave, there is a nature “greater than I.” Sadly, this breeds insecurity then breeds -isms. Hate and hubris assert might over all else, and all “others.”
The kale survived frosts. I, a surgical mishap. During pandemic and climate crises, nature feels indominable. I’m allergic to silver linings. “Opportunity to take a deep breath” is a privilege only for those who are not being suffocated by racism, for instance.
I do hold on, though, to something gut-wrenching and awe-some in watching earth tend to herself.
