CHICAGO — In celebration of Woman Made Gallery’s (WMG) 20th Anniversary we proudly present Inspired By: Celebrating Illinois Women Artists, a group exhibition with works by 47 women. Chicago artist and juror for the current group show, Mary Stoppert is exhibiting new works in Reliquaries: A Matter of Measure. The opening reception for both exhibitions is on August 24 from 6 to 9 p.m. Celebrations include a reading on September 9, curated by Nina Corwin.
Juror: Mary Stoppert included 47 Illinois women artists for “Inspired By: Celebrating Illinois Women Artists” whose work illustrate in some manner an artist who served as an inspiration, as evidenced in the work and statement. The inspiration could have occurred in several different ways: approach to or use of subject matter; process; or use of material and / or technique. Ms. Stoppert notes: “I am proud of the quality and depth of the women artists of Illinois. I was impressed with the range of artists and styles that were chosen; I was even more impressed with the artists where this truly inspired a body of work rather than a single piece.”
