The combination of unspeakable political assassinations and the war in Vietnam left a legacy with my generation of loss and mistrust so huge that it still is what defines many of us. Over the years, I’ve became cynical about my having any influence in the path the government pursues. In the past few years I’ve come to wonder why should I vote when it is possible that no one will bother to include my choices in the tally.
I feel especially violated and betrayed by the Bush government and I am both outraged and enraged at their ridiculous pretense of giving a damn about our welfare. This is not a government for the people, it is a government done to the people.
