The Environmentalist
watercolor on paper
21 x 14 in.
My watercolors use still life to suggest what I see as the way the contemporary world works. The still life objects act as metaphors or symbols for real world desires or needs. The games are arranged to reveal the players values and choices.
I see them as portraits of types of people. I portray them through objects alone, working from life, in watercolor. I try to get as close as I can to photographic so as to preserve the very “materialism” of the parable, often resorting to the ultimate materialism of trompe l’oiel.
