Don’t Touch
collagraph, gel transfer, oil
Families envelop generations of secrets, many sexual and abusive, and most are entwined with memories of love and longing.
The complexities of thought and memory intrigue and inspire me. I’m constantly questioning the perception of images, the relationship between the conscious effort of remembering and the unconscious fragments that invade our thoughts. The layered boxes that I have constructed begin to capture the moment the unconscious and conscious unite, creating a poetic sequence, an implied narrative representing the deluge of family relationships, life, and secrets
