Spliced Thread #9 (white triptych) – cut thread
Beatrice Wolert
I work between genres. My interests lie in process, fleeting moments, fragility, impermanence, fragments, layers, serendipity, found objects. I transform static objects such as spools of thread or register tape rolls by subverting their original functions. By cutting the spliced thread pieces, I expose the vulnerable innards. They become undone and unbound. Selected shows in NY include Patterns of Growth at NURTUREart; Eggcartonopolis at HQ; The Generations Show at A.I.R. Gallery; praying project and Renegades at EXIT Art; and Traveling Tales at Aratoi Wairarapa Museum, New Zealand. I live and work in Brooklyn where memories of growing up there as a child continue to inform my work.
