ARTIST STATEMENT
My work includes drawing, painting, collage, assemblage and graphic art. Through these different mediums, I investigate freedom, power, oppression, cultural expectations or metaphysical inquiries in a poetic and compelling way. Each piece evokes irony and or transcendence through the use of iconographic symbolism, dynamic design and color. When I create a piece, my intention is to captivate the viewer, inviting them into an experience of exploration. The effect of human interaction with our environment is profound. These works represent the ultimate sacrifice made by us when we overstep our authority and become neglectful or abusers instead of stewards of this Earth where we and every living being make our home. The use of collage, which reuses found and cast aside materials, is a practical medium for this subject.
