ARTIST STATEMENT
The selected images are from a series that reflects on how women march through time, with a focus on their later years. These remarkable women allowed me to photograph them, write their stories and generously shared their wisdom. The existing body of work was created between 2015 – 2016. Now, that I have reached the 10 th anniversary since the original creation, I am excited to revisit and expand this project, as my personal perspective has progressed.
There is glimpse into a new project, starring the Edgewater Beach Hotel, aka Pink Building, as the narrator, blurring the lines between present time and past time. Also enjoy my exploration of gender fluidness and the connections made with the natural world on Turtle Island.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
I was born in Switzerland and raised in a small historic town in Germany. As a young adult, I moved to New York City where I sought new experiences and expanded my horizon traveling. During this journey I connected with an artist community in the Midwest who brought my life to a turning point. This eclectic group stirred my interest in the arts and guided my desire to be part of a community where creativity and self-expression were held in high esteem. Supporting the visual arts and producing personal work became a lifelong pursuit.
Creating images is an essential need, and my channel of reflecting and commenting on the world. I strive to reveal the essence of my experiences visually and lean towards the figurative study. Exploring human emotions, thoughts and physicality satisfies my natural curiosity. Stylistically, my work pivots between dreamy, realistic, and at times abstract forms. I resist branding and instead follow a visual stream of consciousness influenced by my environment, the people around me, and the Zeitgeist.
