ARTIST STATEMENT
In the early 1990s, a printmaking class yielded several works that were largely experimental monoprints which reflected a time of learning and searching for meaning. Since that time, over the past several years, a style has emerged which recycles items or old artwork, bringing separate pieces together to create a whole. Whether it involves reconfigured, collaged, and/or altered pieces for the past, my art continues to inform the present.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Libby grew up in Ohio, realizing at a young age that “art is life”. This informed her focus in art throughout her elementary and high school years, graduating in 1984 from Wittenberg University with a Bachelor’s of Fine Art. Libby moved to Chicago in the early 1990s to attend an Art Therapy program at the School of the Art Institute. This is where her creativity expanded andnshe became less inhibited in her ability to access ideas and interests artistically. A printmaking class became a unique experience that set the stage for years of self expression in various forms. Currently, Libby works as an Art Therapist in a group private practice, and has begun to exhibit work which is such an important and vital part of her life and well being.
