My art appropriates imagery from sources such as “Playboy.com” and bra advertisements and re-present them as subjects of kitsch-y crafts like latch-hook and punch-needle hook rugs. On one hand, this artwork seems to make a decidedly feminist statement: medium is placed against subject to point out the contradictory roles of women. But the rugs also seem as exploitative as the source images, acknowledging the complexity of beauty-related issues.
