Mother exists both within and without. When I least think of it, I am most of it.
My practice investigates the role of influence within familial relationships and its subsequent function in the formation of the self. The series’ iterative structure aims to reveal the intricacies of such influence; a narrative further complicated through her reflections on nonlinear histories and implicit hierarchy. Still life photography thus becomes a means of constructing and uncovering these personal realities. Realities in which the hidden, the shadows, can provide as much insight as the seen, as the light itself.
