Rumpelstiltskin recycled straw into gold. He knew the pleasure and power of making something out of nothing. Any value in my work is value I create from valueless trash, by investing time, skill and imagination.

I inherited a propensity for saving things from my mother and grandmother. Their salvage, added to mine, gave me a lot of potentially useful stuff which reminded me of the tinkered-together robots in early pulp science fiction.
