I am drawn to the lusciousness of oil paint and the endless color possibilities. I am drawn to the physical activity of translating my subject onto a canvas. My artwork (both mixed media and paintings in oil) focuses primarily on capturing the gesture or energy of my subject, which may be landscape, still life, or figurative.

The shapes/patterns created by relationships of objects and contrasting light and shadows are explored through use of vivid complimentary colors, abstract design principles, and compositional strategies. When I am successful, there is a lyrical quality to my work.
