While packing up equipment on a recent photo shoot at the San Gabriel River, I noticed a fetid dump of dolls and stuffed animals in a ditch. My curiosity was piqued. Why would someone take the care and tenderness to buy a child a sweetly dressed doll, only to later throw the toys into a putrid, molding heap by a meandering river?
