I am a mixed media artist in the purest sense of the words. I create on canvas, paper, sheet metal, and plywood. I often start with a drawing or photograph. Primarily, I do work using insects, nudes and other icons as metaphors for human relationships. Most of these pieces are “layered.” By that I mean that in many cases I will make a drawing or a photograph, scan it, manipulate it on the computer, print it on photo paper or canvas, and then (depending on my mood) paint over it and add vinyl or written text. Another form of “layering” may involve collage and scans, or collage with paint, oil stick and ink. There really are no limits. My subject matter is typically very personal and politically driven.
