My work tells stories. Employing materials and methods from the scientific and medical industries, my art tempts the viewer with sumptuous aesthetics that belies an analysis of the human condition. I use histories both autobiographical, biographical, and of the collective conscious to create abstractions and contortions. I combat the dueling concepts of detachment and intimacy through material manipulation and juxtaposition.
In this series presented, I tackle the story of my brother, Peter Kassig, a former aid-worker in Syria whom was captured and killed by the terrorist group ISIS.
