ARTIST STATEMENT
Robyn Leah’s artworks are introspective expressions of femininity, spirituality and domesticity. Through the deconstruction and reconstruction of luxurious fabrics and elegant materials, Robyn illustrates the complexity and depth inherent in the feminine identity. Within her work, Robyn embraces the duality of home, with its comforts and dysfunctions. Her work expands into the realm of spirituality, unraveling imposed religious forms, and depicting her own concept of worship.
Robyn’s artistic expression invites viewers to engage in a discourse surrounding the multifaceted nature of femininity, the constraints of domesticity, and the spiritual elements that shape concepts of self.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Robyn Leah is a Chicago-native mixed media and textile artist. Her works include jewelry, drawing, painting, sculpture, and fabric installation. Robyn’s work incorporates a myriad of miscellaneous objects, however, fabric remains a prominent element within her practice. Robyn’s artworks serve as contemplative displays, delving into the themes of femininity, spirituality, and domesticity. Robyn’s experimentation with conventional and atypical materials allows her the opportunity to create work that exceeds the confines of standard artistic expression. Through her work, Robyn intends to initiate discourse regarding individual perspective and connection to self.
