ARTIST STATEMENT
During the Covid19 pandemic I started painting places of where I would like to be but knew I could not go: Carmel and Germany to visit family, the gourmet food trip to Vietnam. These small works are nostalgic reminders of what remains in times of restriction.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
I was born and raised in California and later earned a PhD in biochemistry from Dartmouth College in 1994. My art training consists of a few influential drawing classes as an undergraduate at UC Irvine (taught by Ed Bereal and Linda Vallejo) and more recently with courses taught by Chicagoland artists: Dianne Martia (oil and cold wax), Jacque France (oil painting), Will Blake (oil painting, Michael Carroll (Celtic knot design), Carole Wilson (watercolor collage) and Francis Lightbound (printmaking).
I am a creator, mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, colleague, consumer, writer, reader and friend.
