Artist Tricia Townes and I conceived “Dysfunction” as we watched the unfolding of Trump’s 2016 campaign amongst other GOP, as well as in opposition to Hilary Clinton.

The sign’s red glow “erection” is the reflection, or inverse, “election.” It is intentionally on the bottom and backwards, symbolizing impotence.

Misogynists overcompensate for feelings of impotence, and literal physical impotence by bullying, or repeatedly wrong-footing others into a one-down position.

This work is a comment on Trump and GOP politics as raw, pornographic incompetence directly under their politicking style.
