Over 30 years ago, I began to work more with the medium of photography as my main means of expression. I had studied painting and found that just working with the limitations of pigment did not satisfy my need to tell stories. Photography opened a world of mystery and chemical transformation I had not found in any other expression. Ever since that time I have worked to transform light into metal.
For the past 5 years I have photographed animals found just off the roads of my rapidly changing environment. I have seen a basically rural area change to suburban very quickly. These animals are the result. What I do is show is a vision of transformation through these animals. Many individuals view the works as harsh or confrontational, but I see them as the evidence of transformation of the landscape often outside our narrow field of vision.
