The paintings I have been creating reflect my interest in the formal elements of color and how it reacts when combined with various symbols. We all have symbols that hold certain information for us. The information can be cultural, universal, spiritual or just a way to visualize information.
Kandinsky, Albers, Kelly, Stella, Newman, Rothko and Mondrian are the artists that I admire when I need to view a great color. Kandinsky stated, “Color is the power which directly influences the soul.” These artists discovered multiple interpretations of the same hue. They knew that colors have a different concept depending on the colors surrounding it.
I have always been amazed at what powers of communication symbols and color have, depending on how they are combined and presented.
