My paintings depict indeterminate spaces that are informed by my interest in the physiology and psychology of perception – how we see and how we interpret what we see.
Each painting is a layered amalgamation of lines and shapes replicated from numerous drawings I’ve made of the surroundings going 75mph in a car. The initial marks are put down randomly and over time progress to being intentionally configured into a layered pictorial space. I’ve come to think that this process of configuring cohesive paintings out of drawn snippets of the landscape runs parallel to the way our minds configure snippets of visually collected information into our unique versions of reality.
