After 30 years I returned to finish my BFA in painting. One month later, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. My healing took place in the chemotherapy room, radiation lab, and in my studio. All my energy, my ability to fight, and the strength I needed came from the process of making art. Trauma can destroy a person, but it can also be channeled through the work to rejuvenate. . . to inform. I investigate the body as an identity, self-healer, container and protector. The abstracted images in my recent pieces are reveries. . personal moments in time. Trauma enhanced my ability to go deeper into myself without being consumed in the process.
