My work over the last two years has concentrated on the silent language of the human hand to suggest narratives, or emotional and spiritual states. Taking black & white digital photos of various peoples’ hands, I print them on Japanese paper and dip them in encaustic medium to give a “skin” to them. The colors and patterns of the encaustic painted backgrounds further express the content and nature of my artistic concerns.
