ARTIST STATEMENT
This work reflects the struggle that all groups of people that are consider “outsiders” have to endure.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
From my earliest memories I have been fascinated by the natural world around me. I had many collections of insects, rocks, stones and feathers that I examined and drew. I still have collections of these things and they become the assemblages that I create to tell my stories.
I received my BA in Art Education at UW-Milwaukee and a Masters in Integrated Arts Education at Alverno College. I worked as an art teacher for 35 years in public schools and then as an adjunct instructor at the college level for 8 years. In both of these teaching situations I shared my curiosity for nature and desire to communicate through art with my students. I continue everyday to explore and discover the marvels in nature and the intersections and collisions between nature and humankind.
