A time To Be Born And A Time To Die

My personal art practice serves as a language for self-reflection, research, exploration and transformation. Through the layering of translucent fabrics, stitching on old photographs, painting narrative imagery, I create work which reconstruct multiple histories that function simultaneously; a language that is fluid and transformative. I use art as a language to communicate emotions, memories and ideas that words often fail to articulate. I use my art practice to explore the relationship between the personal, psychological, and cultural perspectives of mental health. I approach my work through a social justice framework advocating for individuals who have been labeled with mental illness and recognizing the systemic oppressions that have influenced their symptoms. I use my personal experience as a tool in my art practice.
