ARTIST STATEMENT
As a mixed media, abstract, painter my art taps into the personal growth process of my emotional & philosophical concerns about issues we face today. They are derived from my own experiences & outcomes in my life. Many of the issues revolve around gender equality, environment, and empowering our voices. Through the use of repeating patterns, mark-making, texture, collage & acrylic paint, I excite the viewer visually. Then I send them a message of encouragement/empowerment to continue onto a path to their voice. Sewing in my youth explains my use of repeating patterns & shapes in my art. While using printed fabric was a colorful way to express myself then, I later transferred that knowledge into my passion for painting. With so much noise & choices around us, we can become disorientated & discouraged on our path to reaching our full potential for our passion. With cheerful imagery, I try to stimulate a positive dialogue for you and others who view my work.
