ARTIST STATEMENT
What does it mean to be truly close to someone? Connected? explores the fragile and complex nature of human connection—the way we can be physically near yet emotionally distant from those closest to us. Set against the vast, sculpted clay dunes of Malta, this series captures two dancers as they navigate the shifting space between unity and solitude. Their bodies mirror the landscape’s fluid forms, sometimes intertwined in harmony, other times drifting apart. Hands reach but hesitate, steps align only to fall out of sync—echoing the unspoken tensions, misunderstandings, and silent longings we experience in our closest relationships. This project is a reflection on real closeness—the kind that goes beyond proximity, demanding vulnerability, understanding, and emotional depth. It asks: How do we bridge the invisible distance between us? And in our search for connection, do we ever truly arrive?
