ARTIST STATEMENT
Gathered In is a reflection on the countless generations of women who have made useful and lovely things by hand. I enjoy working with materials that have known the touch of other hands and I use hand stitching to hold pieces of cloth together, gathering the textile detritus of everyday life into a new whole. The work I do, and the way of working that I value, is slow and mindful. I have found the process of sewing thousands of stiches to be restorative and centering.
