ARTIST STATEMENT
I create Healing Wraps—unique, wet-felted pieces made from silk and wool fibers using traditional hand-agitation felting techniques. Each wrap is one-of-a-kind, intuitively crafted without patterns or prints. I channel positive energy, creativity, and affirmations into every piece, often incorporating sacred resins, essential oils, natural elements like plants or tree particles, and offering prayers throughout the process.
Wet felting is an ancient art form that fuses two or more fibers into a single textile, and I use this method as a vehicle for healing and remembrance. The work presented in this exhibit, titled Ancestors, reflects themes of life choices and the importance of remembering who we are. Both wearable and displayable, Healing Wraps are infused with intention and spirit.
They are made from repurposed materials such as vintage sarees, scraps of wool yarn, and felted wool pieces—underscoring my commitment to sustainability, recycling, and conscious creation. Through my art, I promote healing—encouraging others to find solace, strength, and purpose in both the creative process and the objects we surround ourselves with.
