ARTIST STATEMENT
Through my work I hope to create a moment of familiarity in the sometimes difficult to articulate phases we go through. Making the choice to look inward and work on yourself, for yourself can be daunting and, often times, lonely.
My most recent work is heavily influenced by my own introspection and my journey with therapy, which started during peak pandemic quarantine pandemic. I knew I was diving into more than just unpacking current events, but I didn’t realize how much of the work would be relearning how I identify within my own life. Compounding stress and trauma can deplete one’s sense of identity, and my work expresses my experience looking inward in an effort to strengthen my relationship with my own. I hope, in a period of time that seems to be a shared experience of heightened stress and trauma, viewers of my work are able to release any shame or loneliness they may feel because of it.
