Altar for Growth
cast bronze, encaustic pigments, found objects
15 x 9 x 3 in.
Objects from nature, objects from culture, objects from the forms that come from the spaces in between, from the synthesis of all these are my dreams. From the garden, from materials to hold, from material culture, from history, from the bee, her wax offers transparency, opacity, the immediacy of thought expressed.
The lost-wax process with its transformation from soft to hot fluid metal was my introduction to the medium of wax. The garden was my introduction to the bee and her wax.
