After the Storm
mixed media – bugle and seed beads , sequins on cotton velvet fabric
7 x 14 in.

Home, being the foundation of our lives is represented here through a basic shape we’re taught as kids . The typical red bricks symbolize and convey a feeling of safety and shelter. Love grows at home .. the vines shaping themselves into hearts but eventually outgrowing their space in quarantine and longing to breakthrough. The denseness and larger scale of the flowers spilling out upward is meant to symbolize strength in having persevered, and eagerness to step out into the world once more with greater intention based on self reflection and reset of priorities.
