This work reflects our ongoing social unrest and division. I created it as a response to my overwhelming feelings regarding society’s injustices. Recent incidents involving race, police brutality, and protests have brought up all my past feelings from experiences of hate and racism which my husband (a person of color) and I have witnessed as a mixed-race couple.
Using repurposed elements of fabric, embroidery thread, and deconstructed CAUTION tape, this piece is meant as a meditative gesture for balance to help us navigate through these difficult times with effort, patience, and understanding.
