Happy Homemaker
hog casing, matte medium
24 x 36 x 24 in.

This selection of work reflects the ongoing depiction of women and their roles in society. Attention to detail, negative space and translucency are targeted within each piece. Hog casing is used as the medium for this body of work because of it’s organic nature. Up close, intricate veining can be seen within the material. These humanistic characteristics help juxtapose these doll like outfits. It also brings a bit of sarcasm into the work. Every outfit worn is a different skin, an extra layer that masks the person underneath. Whether or not one realizes it, clothing strongly dictates society’s reaction to each individual. Women, especially, are targeted with subsequent categorization due to the clothes they wear.
