ARTIST STATEMENT
I’ve always been drawn to water. Maybe it’s the Nigerian cultural DNA of the powerful Mami Wata myth, or the Goddess Oshun. Oceans, lakes, rivers, streams, even the daily bath renew and empower me inexplicably. An astrologer once said I was “Neptunes Daughter” due to the placement in the 1st House of my chart. Neptune is the powerful, mysterious and the invisible planet controlling our lives with its tides. This vision I created came to me during a discussion. Perhaps a reminder of something buried in the soul. I recreated the vision through the subtlety and surprises of felting and the embellishments of glass beading and luminous threads to capture what is buried on some level in my subconscious.
