My photographs investigate the different ways ‘nature’—whether real or artificial—appears in an urban environment. This work focuses on the relationship humans have with animals, how we coexist with the natural world, and the disappearance of it within the urban space.
Animals can be a link for humans to a world far from the fast pace of contemporary life, as well as an intangible link to a deeper world of instinct and rawness. My work looks at how humans live with animals, how they define us, and how we define them in relation to us. I seek to understand how the human connection to the rest of nature is often developed through assimilation and appropriation.
