When we represent a thing pictorially the momentary becomes tethered to the everlasting. In this “moment-turned-eternal” lies the notion of representation as an act of both protection and entrapment; the actual, fleeting thing indeed becomes strong and enduring but not without being exposed to eternal entrapment in a flat space
